What is the relationship between Dill and Jem?

Jem and Dill are good friends.  They spend a great deal of time together.  They enjoy playing the Boo Radley game and other outdoor activities.  Sometimes they exclude Scout when they play together.

Jem stood in thought so long that Dill made a mild concession: "I won't say you ran out on a dare an' I'll swap you The Gray Ghost if you just go up and touch the house."

Jem brightened. "Touch the house, that all?"

Despite their competitive natures, Jem and Dill remain close friends.  They sometimes join forces together against Scout.  When Dill runs away from home and shows up at the Finch house, Jem breaks Dill's confidence by telling Atticus.  This shows a moment when Dill and Jem grow apart.

Dill and Jem spend a great deal of time together over the years.  Dill is there with Jem at the trial.
